Yoruba Nation Will Be Great Within Five Years – Prof. Akintoye Declares, Calls for Global Yoruba Unity

In a powerful and historic address on Sunday, Prof. Banji Akintoye, renowned historian and leader of the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM), declared that an independent Yoruba Nation could achieve greatness in less than five years—if its people unite and act decisively.

Speaking with unwavering conviction, Akintoye urged Yoruba indigenes worldwide to rise in solidarity, resist Nigeria’s socio-political decay, and reclaim their destiny through self-determination. He warned against allowing Nigeria’s systemic failures to infiltrate Yorubaland, calling instead for a return to the visionary governance of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whose policies transformed Western Nigeria in the 1950s.

By God’s Power, We Will Build a Global Powerhouse

“We Yorubas will make our country a great nation in the world in less than five years by God’s power. This is your duty. Everybody, be determined—the day is about to dawn, and you must be ready,” Akintoye proclaimed, igniting a renewed sense of purpose among supporters.

The elder statesman emphasized that Yorubaland must sever ties with Nigeria’s destructive trajectory, urging diaspora youths to return home and contribute to nation-building. Come back quickly to free and develop our nation before it is ruined like Nigeria. Our culture must remain distinct—no Nigerian influence should corrupt it, he insisted.

A Movement Gaining Momentum

Akintoye’s speech has further galvanized the Yoruba self-determination struggle, which seeks to establish an independent, prosperous nation rooted in Yoruba heritage. With growing unrest across Nigeria and increasing calls for regional autonomy, his declaration signals a bold step toward what many see as an inevitable separation.

As tensions rise between secessionist movements and the Nigerian government, the question remains: Will the Yoruba Nation emerge peacefully, or will Abuja’s heavy-handed crackdowns escalate into further conflict?

The world watches as the Yoruba people prepare to write their own destiny.
