After a while, Benjamin’s mother travelled, but I was able to go to antenatal by myself. Benjamin doesn’t have money as his work wasn’t really yielding anything and not that I was blind to it but I kept making excuses for him because I so much loved him.

People would say a lot of negative things regarding him but it is either I keep quiet, not putting into consideration what they were saying or I will start defending him and give reasons why things were like that.

The truth is, my family wasn’t reach and so was Ben’s family but we were not in abject poverty though.

On one faithful day, I visited Ben at home and then we talked and laughed while also planning on the name to give the child when it comes out. After a round of hot sex, I began to feel some pain around my lower abdomen. It wad a terrible one.

I couldn’t even stand up not to talk of walk. Benjamin helped me get up and then we began to walk gently to my house but it wasn’t easy at all. He wanted to put me on a bike but he doesn’t have any money but I told him not to worry because my house isn’t far from where we were.

I had to stop him there because I didn’t want any of my people to see us together if not my ears wouldn’t rest with serious talk that night. He was persistent to walk me home because of the pain I kept feeling but I kept refusing his offer because in as much as I wanted to continue walking with him, I couldn’t risk the complaints later in my house and so he stood there, kept watching me walk until I took a turn on to my street before he walked away.

I went home and rested my back on the bed because the pain was much. After a while the pain stopped but continued later at night and that was when my Mom suggested it to be labour which actually made me laugh a little.

The sound of the word labour was funny to me.

After the pain kept becoming serious, my mother said we must go to the hospital early morning the next day and so they called Benjamin
