Biography of Chief David Olumide Aderinokun

Chief David Olumide Aderinokun (born 18 August 1971) is a respected Nigerian businessman and politician affiliated with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Before venturing into the political space, he built a successful career as a realtor, with particular expertise in joint venture property projects.

Early Life and Education
Born on August 18, 1971, in Lagos, Chief Olumide Aderinokun began his educational journey at Albalti Nursery and Primary School, Papa Ajao, Lagos. He proceeded to Mushin Boys High School, Isolo, before completing his secondary education at the prestigious Apata Memorial High School, also in Isolo, where he obtained his SSCE.

Seeking further academic advancement, he travelled to the United Kingdom to study at the University of East London, earning a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Business Studies. Driven by a passion for public service, he later returned to Nigeria and enrolled at the University of Abuja, where he bagged another B.Sc. (Hons) degree, this time in Public Administration, in 2010.

In recognition of his strides in business leadership and contributions to governance, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration by the University of Nicosia in 2020.

Political Journey
Chief Aderinokun made his first political appearance in 2011 when he contested in the PDP primaries for a seat in the House of Representatives. Although he didn’t clinch the ticket then, his passion remained unshaken. He returned in 2018 and successfully emerged as the PDP flag bearer for the Abeokuta North Federal Constituency.

Most recently, he was the senatorial candidate of the PDP for Ogun Central in the 2023 general elections, continuing to make his mark as a key player in Ogun State politics.

Personal Life and Chieftaincy Title
Chief Olumide Aderinokun is happily married to renowned media personality Stephanie Coker. The couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony on the Greek island of Mykonos on August 12, 2017. Their union is blessed with a daughter, born in November 2019.

In June 2021, he was honoured with a traditional chieftaincy title in Abeokuta as the Akinruyiwa of Owu Kingdom, a mark of deep respect and recognition of his contributions to the community. His wife, Stephanie, was also conferred with the title Yeye Akinruyiwa.
