Peter Rufai is Dead!

BREAKING NEWS: Peter Rufai is Dead!

Sad Day for Nigerian Football

Super Eagles legend Peter Rufai, fondly known as Dodo Mayana, has passed away at the age of 61 after a prolonged illness.

A royal son who chose football over the throne, Rufai was more than just a goalkeeper — he was a symbol of courage, excellence, and national pride. From winning the 1994 AFCON to standing tall between the sticks at two FIFA World Cups (1994 & 1998), he was Nigeria’s wall, our safest pair of hands in the golden era of Super Eagles football.

With 65 international caps and even a surprise goal to his name, Rufai inspired a generation. His athleticism, charisma, and leadership made him a fan favorite across Africa and beyond.

We mourn not just a footballer, but a pioneer who redefined what it meant to wear the green-white-green with honour.

🕯️ Rest in peace, Dodo Mayana. Nigeria will never forget you.
