Biography of Kolade Victor Akinjo Early Life and Education
Kolade Victor Akinjo (born 11 June 1972) is a Nigerian politician who served as a member of the 8th and 9th Federal House of Representatives, representing the Ilaje/Ese Odo constituency from 2015 to 2023.
Early Life and Education
Akinjo was born and raised in Itebu Kunmi, Ilaje, Ondo State. He began his education at St. Luke’s Anglican School, Itebu Kunmi, where he completed his basic studies in 1983. He attended Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, earning his WAEC certification in 1988.
Akinjo pursued higher education at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics. He expanded his academic qualifications with a certification in Conflict Management and Kingian Non-violence Education from the University of Rhode Island, USA, in 2002.
In 2006, he earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Abuja. Akinjo furthered his studies by obtaining a Master’s in Legislative Studies from the University of Benin in collaboration with the National Institute for Legislative Studies in 2018.
He continued his academic journey in law, earning a Bachelor of Laws from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, in 2019, followed by his Barrister of Laws certification from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, in 2021.
Political Career
Akinjo’s political journey began during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he served as the President’s Personal Assistant from 2006 to 2007. He was later appointed Special Assistant to the President on Student and Youth Affairs.
In 2015, Akinjo contested and won the House of Representatives seat for the Ilaje/Ese Odo constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in 2019, continuing his service in the 9th Assembly.
During his tenure, he held notable positions, including:
Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for investigating the financial budgetary provisions, approvals, and multilateral donations for skills-acquisition programs of the federal government and its agencies.
Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Population in the 9th Assembly.
