Biography of Oluwafunmilayo Kemi Jimoh, popularly known as Funmi Jimoh

Oluwafunmilayo Kemi Jimoh, popularly known as Funmi Jimoh, is an accomplished American long jumper born on May 29, 1984, in Seattle, Washington. She represented the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Jimoh showcased her athletic talents at Rice University, where she competed in the long jump and sprinting events, including the 100-meter hurdles. In July 2008, she secured her place on the U.S. Olympic team by achieving a jump of 6.72 meters (22 feet ¾ inch) at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

At the 2008 Olympics, Jimoh recorded a jump of 6.61 meters in the qualifying round, tying for ninth place and advancing to the final, where she finished eleventh with a jump of 6.29 meters.

Jimoh continued to compete on the international stage. At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, she placed 21st in qualifying with a jump of 6.34 meters. She later improved her rankings, placing 12th at the 2011 World Championships and 13th in 2013.

Her career highlight remains her personal best of 6.96 meters, achieved in Doha on May 8, 2009, showcasing her exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.
