How to Make Your Own Natural Weed Killer for the Garden

With all the harm that chemical pesticides and weed killers cause to our planet, it’s more important than ever to turn to natural solutions. Here are some easy, eco-friendly recipes to help you get rid of weeds effectively and safely.

1. Potato Cooking Water
Don’t throw away the water after boiling potatoes! While still hot, pour it directly onto weeds growing in your garden paths and borders. This simple method repeated regularly keeps your garden clean naturally.

2. Fresh Nettle Fertilizer
Chop 2 kg of fresh nettles and soak them in 10 liters of water. Let the mixture ferment for 10 days in a shady spot (because of the smell) when temperatures are around 20°C. Strain and spray the liquid on your weeds. You can compost the leftover nettles to enrich your soil.

3. White Vinegar + Dish Soap
Mix 1 liter of white vinegar with 2 teaspoons of dish soap. Pour into a spray bottle and spray on weeds. The soap helps the solution stick to leaves for better effect. This mixture is biodegradable and non-toxic.

4. White Vinegar + Fine Salt
Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of fine salt to 1 liter of white vinegar. Stir well until dissolved, then spray on weeds, preferably on sunny days for a stronger and quicker effect.

5.  Manual Weeding
For those who love a workout, hand-pulling weeds is the ultimate natural method—precise, chemical-free, and very effective, especially for small patches.

Now you’re equipped to fight weeds effectively without harming the environment. Let’s protect our planet one garden at a time!

Happy gardening!
