Historical Insight
Tafawa Balewa Square was constructed by Cappa & D’Alberto, a renowned construction firm established in 1932 by Italian immigrants Pietro Cappa and Viginio D’Alberto.

About Cappa & D’Alberto
Origins:
Pietro Cappa, born in Gifflenga, and Viginio D’Alberto, born in Roasio, both emigrated to British West Africa before settling in Nigeria.

Cappa arrived in 1924, initially working in Ghana before moving to Nigeria.
D’Alberto came to Ghana in 1929 and relocated to Nigeria in 1931.
Major Projects:
The firm played a significant role in Nigeria’s post-independence development.
