Maazi Mgbokwo Udo Mini Oke Nnachi
Was the Eze Aro from 1799-1825, she was the first female Eze Aro recorded in Aro history and the fourth Eze Aro in line of succession to Akuma Nnubi,
She was the granddaughter of Nnachi Ipia and succeeded her father Ekoh Oke Nnachi on his death, she ascended to the throne at a time when most of the able men were away in war or away founding colonies,
As Maazi, she had prerogatives and rights as every other able male in the society and she ran her own household, only noble women of great accomplishment, power or wealth could attain the Maazi title and Maazi was a strong and powerful woman, she broadened Aro alliances and expanded the confederacy.
In Cross River Igbo Culture, women easily rose to powerful positions within the society and often had land rights, this is in part owed to their often matrilineal system, which developed as a result of their countless wars and women founding most of the families
