WHO WAS OLUSEGUN OBASANJO’S BIOLOGICAL FATHER?
Olusegun Obasanjo is not a Yariba man but an Igbo man from Onitsha in Anambra state.
His father was Obi Joseph Okwudili Onyejekwe who reigned as the 19th Obi of Onitsha from 1962 to 1970.
When Obi Onyejekwe was serving in Ibadan as a police officer, he met with Obadanjo’s mother and made her his girlfriend.
After sometime, he got her pregnant and she gave birth to Obasanjo.
Years later, Obi Onyejekwe came back to Onitsha and became the Obi. He didn’t marry the mother of Obasanjo because she was a Yoruba.
Obasanjo’s mother then married a Yariba man from Ogun state where she came from and had other children for him.
The community where Obasanjo’s mother came from knows this story.
In 1982 when OBJ wanted to become the Olowu of Owu after the passing of (Olowu) Oba Adesina; at Ake Cathedral in Abeokuta the late Lisa of Ęgbaland, Chief Toye Coker openly confronted OBJ in the presence of other Ęgba Chiefs that OBJ cannot be allowed to become Olowu because his father wasn’t an Ęgba man but an Igbo man from Anambra state.
Violence then erupted and OBJ threatened to shoot Toye Coker inside the church. Chief Akin Olugbade and the current (Osilę) Oba Adedapo Tejuoso stood in between them that OBJ will have to kill them first.
This was not a hidden story in Abeokuta then.
It took the Alake of Ęgbe, Late Oba Lipęde to stop the chaos by inviting all Ęgba prominent people to the Palace that the story should never be said in public again, that OBJ had brought much glory to Abeokuta despite whatever.
So many Yariba politicians and yariba people knows that Obasanjo is an Igbo man.
Up till date, Yariba people calls Obasanjo as an Igbo man.
Obasanjo is the son of EZECHIME. He is not a Yariba man but an Igbo man.
