BENUE GOVERNOR ATTENDS ROUND TABLE ON INSECURITY
Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia was at the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja for a round table discussion on insecurity in Nigeria.
The event was put together by the Coalition of Northern Groups, and it was centered on the theme:”Multidimensional Approaches to Tackle Insecurity in Northern Nigeria”
Chaired by the former Nigerian Head of State, Gen. Abdousalami Abubakar, the groups discussed the need to provide a framework for cooperation and collaboration between federal, state, and local authorities.
They also considered tackling proliferation of arms and drugs through local vigilance and border security; blocking financial, logistics and all supply channels as well as addressing socio-economic factors, including education, poverty, unemployment and social conflict.
The Tor Tiv and Chairman, Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III were also present at the event amongst other northern traditional rulers, Governors and opinion leaders.
