Blinken Congratulates Senegalese President-Elect Faye
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Senegalese President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Monday to congratulate him on his electoral victory last week.
“Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. The Secretary congratulated President-elect Faye on his election and commended the people and institutions of Senegal for a peaceful and inclusive electoral process.”
Blinken also emphasized America’s “strong interest” in deepening the US partnership with Senegal.
On the evening of April 2, Sall will step down after twelve years at the helm of the country. He will hand over power to the young president.
