Armed with just ₤35 (₦70) and an indomitable spirit, he ventured into the world of motor spare parts trading. His business acumen took him beyond Nigeria, marking the beginning of his journey to greatness. He swiftly transitioned from spare parts to transportation, acquiring his first vehicle and expanding his fleet. Collaborations with renowned companies such as Leventis Motors propelled his success further.

Through perseverance and tenacity, Chief Ilodibe built the Ekene Dili Chukwu Group of Companies into an empire. His impact on the transportation industry remains unmatched, with a fleet of over 150 Mercedes Benz trailers and lorries for nationwide haulage, as well as a range of luxury buses for intercity travel. His partnerships with prestigious international entities and government appointments validate his status as a visionary entrepreneur.

Leventis Motors Ltd. appointed him as an authorized dealer for a wide range of vehicles, including Mercedes-Benz trucks and cars, Renault cars, and Honda motorcycles. He continued to expand his business ventures through partnerships with international entities, fostering growth and innovation within the industry.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Chief Ilodibe diversified his portfolio. In 1976, he entered into a groundbreaking partnership with West German company Emil Doll KG, focusing on the construction of trailer bodies, tanks, and steel structures. His commitment to excellence and progress led to a distribution appointment by the Federal Government of Nigeria for Mercedes Benz vehicles, solidifying his position as a key player in the automotive sector.

In 1977, Chief Ilodibe was appointed by the Nigerian Government as the Distributor of Mercedes Benz vehicles, representing Daimler Benz of West Germany and Mercedes Benz Do-Brasil under Ekene Dili Chukwu Motors Ltd.

In 1980, Ekene Dili Chukwu Motors Ltd. achieved the prestigious designation as a major distributor for ANAMMCO (Anambra Motor Manufacturing Co. Ltd.), further strengthening Chief Ilodibe’s reputation in the industry.
