IIbadan ‘White Chief’, Raymond Zard, Dies At 86
The Babalaje of Ibadan land and Chairman of Zard Group of Companies, Chief Raymond Zard, is dead.
Zard, who owns Zartech Farms, Kopek Construction Limited, Vina International Limited, Ibadan International School and Sweetco Foods Limited was said to have died in The Netherlands on Sunday.
Details have not emerged on what led to the death of the octogenarian industrialist and renowned philanthropist, tributes have however started coming from Nigerians to the deceased.
Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli, while reacting to the demise of the Ibadan chief, described his death as a significant loss, not only to Ibadan land, but to the entire country.
His memory will remain etched in our hearts as a symbol of excellence and benevolence,” the senator added.
Alli sympathised with the deceased’s family, friends and associates, and prayed that Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.
