List of Governors of Ebonyi State
Ebonyi State, Nigeria, has been led by governors and administrators since its creation in October 1996 from the old Abakaliki division of Enugu State and old Afikpo division of Abia State by Abacha’s government.
Here is a list of past and current governors and administrators:
1. Walter Feghabo – First Administrator of Ebonyi State from 7 October 1996 to August 1998, a Military official.
2. Simeon Oduoye – Second Administrator, serving from August 1998 to May 1999, a Military official.
3. Sam Egwu – First Elected Governor of Ebonyi State. His tenure lasted from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007, with Emmanuel Isu as his deputy.
4. Martin Elechi – Governor from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2015. His deputy was Engineer Dave Umahi.
5. Dave Umahi – Governor from 29 May 2015 to 29 May 2023. His deputy was Eric Kelechi Igwe.
6. Francis Nwifuru – Current Governor, in office since 29 May 2023. His deputy is Patricia Obila.
