Super Eagles legend Obafemi Martins has likened CAF African Footballer of the Year winner Ademola Lookman to himself, praising the forward for his remarkable talent and skill.
Lookman clinched the prestigious award on Monday, edging out Achraf Hakimi and other top contenders.
His stellar performance at the 2023 AFCON, where he netted three goals to propel the Super Eagles to the final before their defeat to Ivory Coast, cemented his candidacy for the accolade.
In an interview with Livescore, Martins expressed admiration for the Nigerian international, calling him his favorite striker and drawing parallels between their playing styles.
“He’s one of my favourite players as well. My favourite striker because every time I watch him, I just think about me and the way I used to play, but he’s probably better with the techniques and everything.
He knows how to score goals as well, so I’m very happy for him and I think he can do better.”
The Atalanta winger has carried his impressive form into the new season, already amassing eight goals and four assists for the Serie A side.
