Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette’s tomb
The tomb of King Louis and Queen Marie Antoinette is in the Basilica of St. Denis, Paris.
The praying statues of the ex3cuted King and Queen of France, were commissioned by Louis XVIII during the repatriation of their ashes, from the “Cimetière des innocents” in Paris in 1815.
Eventually completed in the late 1830’s, Marie Antoinette’s statue shows details about the Empire-inspired dress, worn by Marie-Antoinette.
The statue of the king wears the costume of his coronation.
