National grid collapses again
Nigeria’s Power grid has collapsed again, with the country currently generating 0.80 Mega watt of electricity, it was learnt. Indication to the development began around 2pm to when the supply dropped to 2,797.16MW from the average 3,417.99MW around 1pm.
The electricity contribution further declined to 1,020.08 around 3pm before it dramatically falling to 0.80 by 4pm.
The incident is the fourth in 2024.
Confirming the collapse, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) said the incident occurred around 3:09pm.
A public announcement signed by its head of Corporate Affairs, Emeka Ezeh, noted that the situation led to loss of power supply.
The company in a notice informed its customers of a general system collapse which occurred at 15:09 hours today, 6th July, 2024 adding that it has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.
As a result of the development, the company said all itd interface TCN stations are out of supply, and unable to provide services to customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States. It promised to restore supply as soon as the situation improves.
Already, the regular power supply being enjoyed on some parts of the Federal Capital Territory has been disrupted since noon.
