NDLEA TO DEPLOY PERSONNEL IN ASARI-TORU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA: SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH COUNCIL
In an effort to intensify the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, particularly in local communities, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) will be deploying its personnel in Asari-Toru Local Government Area.
This announcement was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the agency to the Executive Chairman of ASALGA, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, DSSRS, at his office in Buguma City.
During the meeting, the Commander of the NDLEA Ahoada Area Commander, Asst. Commander of Narcotics Nasiru Abdullahi who led the team, emphasized that the drug menace is a nationwide problem that affects every community within the 774 local government areas of the country. This realization has prompted the agency to establish NDLEA offices in all 774 local government areas, including Asari-Toru Local Government Area.
However, the Commander acknowledged that establishing an NDLEA office in the LGA would not be possible without the partnership and support of the local government council. Therefore, he requested the Executive Chairman’s assistance in providing office space and accommodations for the personnel who will be posted to the LGA in the near future, among other needs.
The Area Commander also outlined the activities that the agency’s personnel in the LGA will undertake. They will monitor drug activities within the area and report any drug-related incidents to the area command based in Ahoada. The area command will then carry out operations in the LGA, organize awareness campaigns, and implement measures to reduce the drug menace.
In response, the Executive Chairman expressed gratitude for the agency’s efforts to combat substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the LGA. He reiterated the commitment of the AsalgaFirst Administration to ensuring that the LGA is free from substance abuse and drugs trafficking.
The Chairman, in his eagerness to collaborate with the NDLEA in their mission to combat substance abuse and drug trafficking in the LGA, has generously offered an office space for the agency. This partnership demonstrates the Chairman’s commitment to addressing these pressing issues and working hand in hand with the NDLEA to create a safer and drug-free community.
