RIVERS APC CHAIRMAN, OKOCHA, ATTENDS HERBERT WIGWE INTERMENT SERVICE.
The Rivers State Representative on the NDDC Board, who also serves as the Chairman/Leader of APC Rivers State, Chief Tony C Okocha KSC JP DSSRS, and his entourage was among the distinguished dignitaries who attended the funeral service in honor of the late Herbert Wigwe, his wife, and son, at Isiokpo Community in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers State.
Until his passing, Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc. He died on February 9, 2024, along with his wife, Chizoba, first son, Chizi, and three others, in a helicopter accident in California, USA.
Addressing newsmen at the funeral service, Chief Tony Okocha described today as a dark day in the history of Ikwerre, Rivers State, Nigeria and the entire world at large. He referred to the death of Herbert Wigwe as ‘one death too many’ and a colossal loss to humanity, and he prayed that God gives those he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
Other dignitaries present at the funeral included the President of the Senate, HE Godswill Akpabio, the Governor of Rivers State, HE Siminalayi Fubara, the Chairman of NDDC Governing Board, Barr. Chiedu Ebie, Former Governor of Ogun State, HE Ibekunle Amosun, Emir Sanusi Sanusi, Former Governor of Bayelsa State, HE Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Delta State, HE James Ibori, former Governor of Anambra State, HE Peter Obi, former Governor of Rivers State, HE Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, HE Fayose Fayemi, Chief OCJ Okocha SAN, Captains of industries, CEOs of financial institutions, and numerous others.
