SKIRT OF IMMORALITY Chapter 3

SKIRT OF IMMORALITY

Chapter 3

I was in the University at 18 years of age and you all definitely know the meaning of that. I was very young and not exposed to social life and I was not ready to learn that because I could tell how dangerous that kind of thing is.

I got to my hostel room and then I met three girls in the room. It was obvious that they were my room mates. They all looked at me and then I greeted and introduced myself but only one of them replied me with a kind tone. Others just ignored even though I didn’t know their ages but it was also obvious that they were as young as I am, around the same age range.

I settled down and then decided to take a walk around the vicinity, just to get to know my new environment.
My phone rang, it was my Mom!

“Hello my sweet mother!”

“You need help. When did I become your sweet mother?”

“Since the day I came out of your womb and looked at with you with smile on my face”

She kept quiet for a while. I know my mother, her face had turned red already because she blushed.

“You are not my child. You better go and find your mother. Calling me sweet as if I am a sugar or honey”

“Mom, you are sweeter than Sugar and honey”

She burst into laughter.

“So how’s my first child doing over there?”

“Aaah! Me I don’t think I am your first child o. I have to start looking for my mother” (I smiled)

“You better hurry up o before she rejects you”

Both of us laughed and then my father collected the phone.

“Hi, young babe”

“Hello, young man!”

“Don’t call me young man, I senior your father”

We all laughed, as I could hear my siblings laughing too.

“Make sure you remain a good girl and make us proud. You will talk with your younger ones tomorrow. Let’s allow you to settle down ok?”

“Yes young man”

He laughed and then my mother collected the phone not knowing they didn’t end the call.

“You’ve not wired the money I requested for, why?” My mother asked as usual while I also didn’t end the call because I already missed their fights on money issues.

“Do you think I’m a bank manager or Dangote first son? We are managing o. Kindly reduce the way you are billing me”

“Oh! So you want me to stop billing you. If I don’t bill you who will?”

“You don’t even understand simple English. I said ‘reduce the way you are billing me’ I didn’t say you should stop”

She wanted to reply but then water suddenly splashed on me. I turned around, it was a Jeep, a very clean Jeep. It stopped and then a young man came out of the car, a very fine young man. As innocent as I was, I almost got caught looking deep into his fascial beauty.

“Oh sorry my dear! My head was hot, I didn’t even know you were standing my. I’m so sorry”

“No problem. You don’t need to be sorry. I’m fine. I will just go and change my dress”

“Can you give me the chance to just get you a new dress since I am at fault?”

“No need for that. It’s ok, you can go. I’m totally fine”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I am”

And then immediately, I turned and began walking back to the hostel because I was so drenched with dirty water. I could tell he was still standing looking at me as I walked away.

My name is Richard!!!

He suddenly shouted. I stopped, turned, smiled and then I walked away.
