The history of Ezza Ezhiama iri l’ebo

The history of Ezza Ezhiama iri l’ebo, which translates to Ezza composed of twelve original communities, is rooted in the rich heritage of the Ezza people. The breakdown of these twelve communities includes three in Izzo (Umuezeokoha, Umuezeoka, Umuoghara), two in Imoha (Oriuzor, and Ekka), four in Izzikworo (Amaezekwe, Amagu, Idembia, and Amana), and three in Kpakpaji (Amaekka, Amuzu, and Ezzama).

Orokeonuoha is revered as the oldest, considered the father of Izzo and Imoha communities. Ezechimkpuru is honored as the ancestor of Izzikworo.

The third quarter of Ezza, Kpakpaji, comprises three vibrant communities of Amaekka, Amuzu, and Ezzama.

While the original twelve communities form the foundation of Ezza Ezhiama iri l’ebo, the expansion and growth of Ezza Nation over time have led to the formation of additional communities, totaling twenty-one in the present day. These communities have added to the diversity and richness of Ezza culture and tradition.
