CHAPTER 8: SON OF THE DARKNESS

“Long time no see little prey. I saw your struggles in your room and decided to come to your aid. You’re happy right?” He asked and gave her a toothy grin as he took a step closer to her.

Ada took a step back and sighed. She has stopped wondering what she had done wrong and why he was preying on her. It’s obvious he’s just a maniac. She wouldn’t give him the pleasure of seeing her afraid anymore. She heard Maniacs like him feed on people’s fear.

“We have to go now my dear, the game is over” Ada could feel herself falling. His voice was faint and soothing. It was lulling her into a bottomless pit..

Mr lekan and Lucas barged into Ada’s room when they got the report that she was missing.
“L-lucas he was here. ” Mr lekan stuttered in fear
“What are you talking about sir? Who was here?” Lucas was confused

“Son of the darkness… He was here a-a-and he has the lady. I can feel him”

“Who is the son of darkness?”

“The man after the lady you fool! No wonder she didn’t want to talk. She’s in grave danger!”

“I-i don’t understand what you’re talking about”

” The first time I met him” Mr lekan started
“I was just a lad. Sixteen to be precise. My father was working on a woman who was possessed but the job proved way too difficult and challenging for him. That faithful night, son of the darkness approached me. Everyone called him son of the darkness for his name must never be spoken! He looked human. He was young and handsome. But God! He is the devil himself.
I was almost dead when my dad found me. Everything he did to save me proved abortive.

So he seek help from other exorcists and shamans who told him I was In that state because he insisted on helping that woman when others rejected her. Nothing else could be done. I was taken into his den. A dark and ominous place.

The five elders joined forces to battle with him for his blood was the only thing that could save me. But he was powerful, too powerful and he was reluctant to release me. They couldn’t do him any harm and I was dying. Then my father decided to go by the books. He tapped into the forbidden power which cost him his life.
