Theodoros Bouas (1453 – 1492)

From the prominent Greek family of Warlords and Fighters from Epirus, the Bouas Family, Theodoros was a Greek military leader of the 15th century, during the troubled times of the decades following the Fall of Constantinople (1453).

He first comes into historical prominence in 1479, collaborating with Krokodeilos Kladas in Mani in the Peloponnese.

For the next 3 years, Bouas was involved in numerous engagements with the Turks throughout the Peloponnese, mostly fighting together with Krokodeilos Kladas.

A great success was had at Oitylo in Mani, where almost 1,000 Turks were put down and the rest had to retreat passed Sparta. Bouas was also successful in repelling various revenge campaigns of the Turks, such as at Kastania.

In 1492, during an Ottoman invasion and expedition in Northern Epirus, Bouas, who was tasked with organizing the defense of the region against this invasion is fatally wounded, falling heroically.

Following his death, Theodoros son Merkourios Bouas, would take over and continue the family’s fighting tradition.
