Rwandan President Agrees to Meet With His DRC Counterpart to Discuss Crisis in Eastern DRC
Rwandan President Paul Kagame expressed his readiness to meet with his Congolese counterpart Felix Tshisekedi to discuss the crisis in the eastern DRC.
The willingness to negotiate was expressed during Kagame’s visit to Luanda, the capital of Angola, where he met with the President of the country, Joao Lourenco.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Tete Antonio announced this information after the meeting between the two leaders. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola has explained that the two countries of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have basically agreed to hold a meeting where the ministers of the two sides will meet to achieve that goal.
The meeting will take place at a time, which is to be determined by the AU mediator in the DR Congo crisis.
Rwanda and the DRC are in disagreement over the activities of the M23 rebels in eastern DR Congo. Kinshasa has accused Rwanda of supporting the rebels, but Kigali has denied any links to the group.
