THE END OF DAYS

CHAPTER 1 (Reckless Life)

“I love how you make me feel so good every time we have sex” I said to my boyfriend (Abel)

He smiled and caressed my hair with his smooth fingers.

“Would you like to go another round?” He asked

“What do you think?” I asked with a smile while also looking into his eyes.

“Hmmmm… I think too much of everything is bad. Don’t you think so?” He asked

“Funny you”

I got up and went to the bathroom where I showered and then he went in and also did the same thing.

“Where is Manan?” My father (Mr. Enoch asked

“She went out and don’t ask me where she went to because I really don’t know” My mother (Mrs. Martha) replied

“That girl just won’t hear a single thing and I just hope she doesn’t mess up her life” My father said

“Well, you are partly at fault. You think we don’t know what we are doing when we decided to abandon the former church we use to attend for this current one?” My Mother asked

“Please, please don’t even start with this your church thing”

“Well, I have to tell you the truth because you are my husband and I wouldn’t like you or any of my family member to go to hell”

“Oh! That’s what they are now teaching you in your new church. I said it! I knew they will only instill fear in you people but guess what? I am totally different and so, nobody can put fear in me”

My Father picked his well shaped pilot cap and was about to head out when my mother stopped him.

“So, won’t you eat before you go to work? And won’t you pray before you head out?”

“First of all, I am not hungry and secondly, I am self-made. I don’t need to pray to any supreme personality that I cannot even see”

He opened the door and banged it behind him while my mother stood and watched the reaction of her wonderful husband.

“My baby, come and eat before you I drive you to school” My Mother said to Tryphina our last born (only 10 years of age)

Tryphina went to the dining and then her food was served.

“Mom, I have a question to ask you?”

“Ask my dear”

“Why are we the only ones that go to church in this family? Dad and Sister Manan always refused to go to church. Why?”

“They don’t understand what we understand now. Remember how the Pastor in our former church use to preach only about prosperity, money and stuff?”

“Yes I remember! He likes saying ‘ you won’t prosper if you do not pay your tithe and offering every Sunday. Even if you don’t have, borrow to give your tithe and offering'” Tryphina mimicked the Pastor while my mother laughed her lungs out

“That’s the kind of thing your dad and Manan likes hearing. They don’t want to hear the true sound of the gospel that will lead our souls to heaven. They don’t want to hear the undiluted word of God that will water our souls and prepare us for the kingdom of God but I want you to be attentive and wise. Continue following the word of God and continue praying foe God’s mercy. Do you know why?”

“Yes, I know why! Because we don’t know when Jesus will come. We don’t know when the world will end and we don’t know when rapture will happen”

“That’s right my girl, my brilliant girl. Now give me high five”

“Hey babe, I have to go now” I called out my boyfriend

“What do you want to go home for?” He asked

“Nothing! But I don’t want my parent’s trouble, especially my Mother because I know definitely she won’t hesitate to fill my ears with her holiness preaching”

He laughed.

“Well, all parents are the same. My parents are also not exempted from such a thing but we just have to cope with them because they don’t even realized that we are a new generation and our ways of doing things are just different”

“I wonder o”

and then he escorted me out of his house to where I will get a bus to go back home.

It was time for my Dad’s flight but while he was in the cockpit, one of the flight attendants (Miss Monica) entered and then my dad couldn’t keep his eyes off her body.

It didn’t start on that day. He’d liked her even before now and she’d also liked him to the extent that she always talk to the planning officer to change her schedule in order to match my dad’s schedule, so that they could always fly together.

He kept looking at her and was already fantasizing because indeed she was a pretty lady and he could really make use of the opportunity and fact that she likes him.

Sometimes, he feels guilty because he was married but then he gives himself an excuse that says his wife had changed.

“Is everything ready Sir?” Miss Monica broke the silence

“Yes, everything is ready. Please take the passengers through the routine procedures now

“Yes, Sir”

She was about to leave when he called her back and was about to relate his feelings to her when his copilot entered the cockpit.

“Oh! Don’t worry, you can go and talk to them”

“Yes Sir”

And then she left while is copilot was looking at him.

“What is it?”

“I’d been watching how you look at that woman and sometimes I wonder whether you have forgotten that you are married”

“It’s not your business. I’m a man and can do what I want and when I want it”

“I just want you to be careful with what you do because God is watching”

“That’s the part I hate the most. Don’t talk about anything God when you are talking to me. If not, I will fight you”

“Oh, sorry about that.”

“Good! Now can we fly to our destination?”

“Yes Sir”

They began to fly and then after a while something strange happened. A thing that can be found only in movies happened on that day.
