CHAPTER 8 (THE RISE OF THE ANTICHRIST)

Immediately he switched on the television, a reporter was seriously reporting a matter regarding an underdog politician who mysteriously climbed the ladder of world leadership.

The man goes by the name Lucius. He was just an ordinary counsellor before he was selected to contest for the presidential election of Austria.

The two other contestants forfeited their ticket for no reason and so Mr. Lucius was automatically announced as the President of Austria.

“Wow” the story shocked Mr. Albert but that wasn’t all. Reports were then pouring in to confirm that the United Nations (UN) were about to elect a new leader (UN Permanent Secretary) and Mr. Lucius was the man elected for the seat.

The story of Mr. Lucius was life a fiction to every ear that heard about it. Looking at his picture and the way he speaks makes it easy for every one to see reasons why he was always lucky.

He looks super handsome, gentle, humble and he seems to want only good things for everyone.

All of a sudden, Mr. Albert remembered something. He went back to his notes and saw a place where Pastor Titus had warned about the man of ‘perdition’ the Antichrist.

He will appear from nowhere but would easily gain power and fame within a short period of time. He will promise the people of the earth a lot of things. He will also be like a god on earth little by little his true colours would show forth. All believers must beware and be wise.

Mr. Albert closed the book and for sometime, he kept thinking while looking at the picture of Mr. Lucius in the television.

“Is Mr. Lucius the Antichrist?” He asked himself

It was morning and everything about that morning made me miss my mother and my kid sister the more. Assuming they were around, both of them would have barged into my room to wake me up from sleep by either sliding up the window blinds so that the morning sun would shine directly into my eyes, or they would start singing in my ears.

At that time, it was annoying. So annoying that I wouldn’t have hesitated to beat the hell out of my mother if she were to be a junior to me but I wouldn’t mind them doing it to me now.

I wouldn’t mind them jumping on me and shouting out my name. A knock on the door brought me back to reality and then I realized I was already tearing up and so I wiped off my tears before opening the door just to find my dad standing with breakfast.

It was a great shock to me because the father I know would never have time to do that kind of thing. I collected the tray from his hands and then we both sat on the bed while he watched me eat.

“Think about it, I haven’t seen you do this to Mom”

“Yea, you are right and I really would have done this and more if I knew the rapture would happen this soon”

“There you go again”

“Manan, I’m beginning to realize why we were always told that we wouldn’t have eternity here on earth with those we love. One thing may lead to the other, we won’t be together forever here on earth and so we must learn to love and cherish those we that are dear to us. We must spend as much time as possible with them. If I were to turn back the hands of clock, I would have loved all of you more, spend more time with you all and I would have done a lot of things because I am really regretting everything that I’d done to you all”

“Dad, you don’t need to be worried, it doesn’t matter any more. I just hope the Government would find a way to bring back all those that were taken by the aliens”

My dad began to laugh again. I stopped eating was looking at him. Deep within me, I knew my theory doesn’t sound right but so also the RAPTURE doesn’t sound right.

“Whenever you speak of aliens, do you hear yourself? Like do you hear how you sound? What is the time?”

I checked my phone.

“Pass 10 A.M”

My dad got up and switched on the television that he gifted me for my room alone.

There was a news about the new UN Permanent Secretary and he was scheduled to have a very important meeting with all of the representatives of the members of UN. The meeting would decide a lot of things as the world tries to heal from the greatest event in the history of humanity.
